The First 5 Steps to Plan Your Perfect Wedding

So you’ve just got engaged and the excitement of planning your big day has set in – but where do you start? Planning a Wedding can be complicated as there are so many things to think about, but here are our 5 first steps to help you plan your perfect Wedding.

1 – Plan your budget

With so many awesome options for entertainment, cakes, venue décor and more, it is so easy to overspend when planning your big day. Set a budget as soon as possible and constantly refer back to it throughout the planning process. If several people are contributing to your special day (e.g. parents, grandparents, etc.) then you should find out how much as soon as you can. This allows you to get a much clearer idea of your budget and how much you have got to work with.

If you like to be really organised, there are a number of Wedding budget planning websites and apps available, such as Bridebook – https://bridebook.co.uk/

2 – Get inspired

Getting inspired is often a favourite part of the planning process. Start by thinking about all the Weddings you have been to – What did you like? What would you change? Remember it is your day and it can be anything you want it to be. Use websites like Pinterest to see all the amazing things you could have at your Wedding and attend Wedding Shows to meet the fantastic range of Wedding suppliers that are out there. It’s a good idea to create a scrapbook of all your favourite ideas so you can look back at it at a later date.

3 – Create your guest list

Before you can book a venue, you need to think about who you would like to be there with you on your big day. There’s nothing worse than choosing the perfect venue and then realising there isn’t enough space for all your family and friends! Deciding who to invite and who not to invite is no easy task – our advice is to come up with a set of rules, and then stick to them. For example, if you they aren’t related to you and you haven’t spoken to them in the last three years, don’t invite them. Creating a rough guest list will give you a good idea on numbers and therefore the size of venue you should be looking at.

4 – Choose your venue and set a date

Before you can book any suppliers, you need to have a date set and a venue booked. One of the best bits of planning your Wedding is looking round some fantastic venues, so make the most of it – try the food, take plenty of photos and start imagining how it could look on your big day. It’s always a good idea to have a rough date in mind when looking at venues but prepare to be flexible if you have your heart set on one particular venue. Remember if you are having a Church Ceremony then you will need to coordinate the availability of both venues – and don’t forget to factor in travel time between the venues.

5 – Book your Wedding suppliers

Now you have got your venue booked, it’s time to choose the team of people who will make your dream Wedding a reality – the Wedding suppliers! The average couple uses 13 Weddings suppliers so it’s important to start booking these as early as you can. We always recommend booking your entertainment and photographer first as both of these often get booked up well in advance. You should then start organising your minister or celebrant, florist, cake maker, hair & makeup, and of course, the dress!

Finally, Wedding planning can be stressful but remember you are putting the pieces together to create the best day of your life – make the most of it and enjoy every minute!

What Customers Said...

Ross was exceptional at our Critical Care Unit Burns Supper. Playing the pipes numerous times throughout the evening (beautifully) and also keeping guests dancing all night with his fab disco. We had a blast! Everyone is raving on about how great a night they had. Thanks again x 🎉😊

Ross played at our wedding at Springkell and was absolutely fantastic. Even before our wedding, he seamlessly coordinated our schedule, had an easy-to-use system, and much appreciated payment process. On our wedding day, he was friendly, and even got our 35-person wedding dancing for hours! We had some last minute schedule changes that he rolled with easily, making adjustments and continuing to play a great mix of music all night, from wedding classics to modern hits that all ages enjoyed. Every song that we requested was played and he interspersed our requests seamlessly. The dance floor was hopping all night. The lighting, especially the stars, were also a huge hit! Thank you Ross for making this American couples' wedding day perfect.

Thank-you very much from us all for last Friday. Everyone had a good night and the photos seem to show that too. I was pleased we'd chosen the uplighters for the room as well. The final choices of music from our playlist and the closing songs at the end of the night was very much appreciated and I think really worked well. I would not hesitate to recommend you to other folk. Best wishes and thank-you.

Ross did the Piping and the DJ for mine and my husband's Wedding and I couldn't fault one thing. Definitely recommend him to anyone. 10 out of 10 from us!
